

I've tried to avoid asking them to "wait" all-together, remembering the nightmares of attempting to locate Boone and Rex in New Vegas when I would forget about them. I am not sure if that will still be effective if you have told them to "wait", and forgotten to ask them to "follow" again though.

The most simple solution discovered so far is to fast travel to a new location, at which time they will rejoin you. There have been a few times that even when backtracking, we could not locate our followers. I just wandered around my follower until he moved and then all was good. I found my follower buried in some steps! If you think you're not being followed, check behind you. They do tend to get hung up on steps and such like. I also ran into this problem but then i found lydia at my place in white run.
